A man was hurt when he crashed into three Washington State Patrol cars parked alongside the freeway early yesterday.

The accident happened about 3 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near North 92nd Street, the State Patrol reported.

When the accident happened, three troopers were pulled over on the left shoulder of the freeway investigating an earlier accident, Trooper Monica Hunter said.

A large truck apparently clipped a Toyota MR2, which crashed into the three parked patrol cars. The driver of the Toyota was slightly injured. None of the troopers was in a patrol car at the time.

The Toyota was totaled. All three patrol cars had to be towed away.
