06/03/02 NEW ORLEANS Bystanders hurt at drag race Bystanders watching an illegal drag race late Sunday in eastern New Orleans were injured when they were hit by at least one of the cars that lost control during the race, the New Orleans Police Department said. Authorities said at least eight people were injured, two critically. The injuries were reported shortly before 11 p.m. near Old Gentilly Road and Michoud Boulevard near Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co.'s Michoud Assembly Facility , authorities said. No more information was available late Sunday.
