Drag racing blamed for Spring Valley death

SAN DIEGO -- A 17-year-old is dead after apparently drag racing in Spring Valley Wednesday night.

Julio Nieves was killed when he lost control of his Trans-Am on Elketon Boulevard and slammed into a tree, 10News reported.

The driver Nieves had been racing against sped away from the scene. Witnesses said that he had been driving a late-model Chevrolet, 10News reported.
