Logan's Memorial Site

A part of our hearts and souls went to heaven on Sunday, January 26, 2003. James Logan Friedrich, born on the sunny summer day of May 6, 1983 passed away on a rainy, cold winter day while driving his little red MR2. Logan's life evolved around his family, friends, cars, swimming, and Scouts. He had many, many friends who have remembered him at www.texasracingscene.com. Logan had done everything he wanted to do at this time in his life. He wanted to go to state on the swim team - he did in 2001. He wanted to attend college - he was attending ACC. He wanted to live on his own, and he did. He wanted to get his Eagle Scout and he proudly (though at the time you wouldn't have known it) completed that as a Scout from Troop 511 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Logan attended preschool at Memorial United Methodist Church, elementary school at Hill Middle School at Murchison, and graduated from Lake Travis High School in 2001. Logan was employed as a lifeguard at World of Tennis, Hunter's Chase Pool and the YMCA at Town Lake over his short lifetime. He also worked as a valet for Shoreline - always having stories to tell about parking Ann Richards' and Mack Brown's cars and getting the opportunity to park cars that he hoped he would someday own. He had a quirky sense of humor and a sensitivity to other's needs that lent itself to his making many friends. Logan is survived by his proud and loving parents and brothers, Judy, Richard, William and Drew of Lakeway; grandparents, Logan and Jane Friedrich of Austin and James and Virginia King of Pflugerville; the love of his life, Kaitlin Murphy; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at Memorial United Methodist Church at 6100 Berkman with Reverend Larry Lacy officiating. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville. Special thanks to all our friends in the church community, in Lakeway and in Austin. Especially grateful thanks to the Palkos, Heyls, Kings and all of Logan's friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Travis High School Swim Team, 3322 RR 620 S., Austin, Texas 78759, Boy Scout Troop 511 Scholarship Fund, c/o Bill Dugat, 8607 Silver Ridge Drive, Austin, Texas 78759, or any charity of your choice. Logan, our hearts and souls will be whole again when we see you again.
