RANCHO BERNARDO ---- A 74-year-old man waiting at a bus stop was killed by a vehicle that ran up a curb Friday, police said.

The accident happened at 4:12 p.m. at Poblado Road and West Bernardo Drive, San Diego police Lt. Ray Armstrong said.

A 22-year-old man was driving a Toyota MR2 going southbound in the 17200 block of West Bernardo Drive, when a red Ford pickup turned from Poblado Road in front of him, Armstrong said. The Toyota's driver tried to pass the Ford on the right side to avoid slowing down, but hit a curb with his tire and went up on the sidewalk striking the man, Armstrong said.

Traffic investigators were trying to determine which driver was at fault in the crash, he said.
